Frateschi: Unheard Classic?
You may be wondering about the title.
Frateschi is a Brazilian Model railway company. I was browsing the internet when I came across a nice 4-6-0 they make, and thought i'd look at them. Turns out they are good models, with a wide range of Diesels too. The 4-6-0 looks like it could be made into one of the numerous Baldwins that had a very short service life with a few UK companys before the 1923 groupings.
Worth a look IMO

RWS or TV? You decide...
I'm in quite a prediciment at the moment. I really want to model both the RWS and the TV series. Whilst saying RWS, it'll be based on Illustrations and not on prototype, making it very different to the excellent work Knuckles does.
I'm making a model of Crovan's Gate, but I don't know what to do. RWS, or TV series? I'm 50:50 on it, so I would like it if you guys could help me out balance one idea so I can start painting the stock.

Restarting this blog
Well, I feel I can post some of the stuff you wouldn't normally see, and you will also be seeing the layout as it is built. Still in the planning stages, but it will be here soon :)

Donald's Cab
Rusty: A first attempt and a win
Here is the completed article. Rusty the little Diesel, as portrayed in the Television Series.
Rusty is probably one of my favourites, as for some reason he is the only diesel I liked when I was younger...
Goodness knows why?
Anyway, I have wanted to make a model of Rusty for some time, and at Warley I got a second hand Bachmann 0-6-0. Realising it had bashing potential, I pulled my Ertl rusty out to have a look at motorising it. Bad mistake.
Ertl models are not to scale. The only use they have is faces, and even then they tend to be off.
I got a couple of sheets of Plasticard, and put together a body:
Good for a first try. I then painted it and looked at it...
Windows? Damn, I'd forgotten them. Time to fix that:
Mutliated, Rusty carries on smiling whilst I repaint him. The poor devil doesn't know what he is going to become.
He presto! Just needs a face...
Where is that Wind-Up toy? :D
